   My first big route was in March, the second was in summer with kayak. The second route was big too, we were  2 weeks on the river. I remembered from this route water after the border of kayak, rocks, flies ( we hadn't modern repellents there), banks with huge grass overgrowth, ducks broods and crazy fishing. Only lazy persons and novices didn't catch fish. I was fifteen years old and at once on the fishing. I hadn't fishing tacles, so I was in the second category. In this route I cought my first grayling. Anyone satiated by fishing said: "look, grayling is splashing in stream". The grayling ate on the upper part of water, the dip of stream was less than 1 m, and the broad of open water without burs was not more 2 m. I cought gadfly and threw it with one wing in upper part of stream. The gadfly swam 1,5 m and disappeared in small whirlpool. The next gadfly perched on hook swam downstream. The grayling splushed, the fishing-rod bent... and grayling was on the bank. I don't know how smell Baltish fish "korushka" but I remembered smell of fresh cucumber from my first fish, although it was in the middle of eightenth years. Certainly, we went to the "forest" not only for fishing. We named taiga, tundra and mountains by the word "forest". And it is better to move in our locality using rivers. It is very difficult to move in taiga and tundra by foot becouse of many water. Marshy places are everywhere. But what is bad for pedestrian is good for kayaker. The number of kayaking route here is not big and these routes are not difficult. Karelia has more difficult rafting rivers. Our rivers not for appraiser of rafting complexity. We use rivers for moving among beautiful and interesting places and all rapids make rafting more cheery and give us possibility for fishing. 

Kayaking routes:

1. Kayak like "taimen" can overcome in all places where motorboat can't go. Yes, motoboat has motor and can move quickly but it is very hard to drag big  boat among rapids - this is doubtful pleasure. The narrow kayak "taimen" can easy overcome such places and you can go upstream in kayak in difficult places. The other day we went upstream Shar-U river quickly than motorboat.

Countrymen  "flew" dip places and exhausted in shallow places. The own rapidity of loaded kayak in stagnant water is 5-7 km/h, it can take 270 kg, but once we take 350 kg (with rowers). It takes 2-3-4 days to go upperhead of rivers ran off Chernushev' stratum: the Kombozh-U, Sar'uga, Shar-U, Necha, Zaostrennaya rivers. The most interesting variant of route is couple of rivers Shar-U and Sar'yuga together. This route is not quicly, it takes only 8-10 days to go upstream, to transport luggage to other upperhead of Shar-U river and to go downstream the other river. But this time will spend only for working without rest, sauna, fishing... why? It takes about 2 weeks for this pair of rivers. This route is interesting for those who likes to live in taiga and travel along the beautiful river with high rocky banks. The best time for this route is the middle of July and certainly the middle of September when there are  mushrooms, berries, capercoulzies, haselhens.... It is possible to have 1 week to do this route - but it will be interesting for hunters and fisherman with arrival by motorboat in the middle stream, further by kayak and coming back in some days to motorboat. There is another stipulation for such rote, it will be the same quantity of strong and weak participants, the number of women and children will equals the number of men. It will be difficult but not much, I led juniors 12-14 years old there.

2. It is very good to go downstream Kozhim, Lemva and  Lemva' tributaries by kayak. But you need assurance practice in kayaking or very attentive relation to guide' commands. It is pleasure to go by kayak on this rivers becouse of calm stream  in low part.  Usually fishermen groups and I rafting rapid upper stream by katamaran or rubber boat and set up motor in low part or motor boat meet us to railway station. As for me I prefer to go this rivers only by kayak. But I live here and can row many hours. It is usefull for health.

Rafting by katamaran:

It is out of competition because of combination: safety, sure, weight, price. The raft is common vessel for commercial route, it is not the best variant for us - there are many rapid places and you need overcome this places tacking between stones. The raft is sluggish, weighty and will do for rivers with big expenditure of water and without currents. It is not our variant.

1. The very simple and logical variant for rafting - to go from upperhead of Kozhim river. It is possible to begin rafting from Hasavarka creek, but it is better from big Katalambi-U junction and move down to Limbeko-U river junction where automobile crossing is or to railway station Kozhim-Rudnik. It duration is max - 12 days, min - 4 days. Rafting is not tecnical compound, but very interesting. There are places where you can jump on waves, to wet your seat, to catch fishes, to delight in rocks section. There are an excellent collection of rocks  section on Kozhim river and stones pillars on Balban-U river junction, gold deposit places on Kozhim banks, and zones with rare and medicine plants.

2. If you can to pay cross-country  vehicle or swampy-mobile "Strunnik" you have possibility to be on upperhead of Lemva' tributaries. There are routes down Grube-U, Haruta, Paga rivers, it is little visiting places. The upperheads are "pleasure" for rafting and in low part you need to set up motor on katamaran. This routes are most interesting not for kayakers, but for fishermen and amateurs of active rest on the nature. It takes above 10 days for this routes including furnishing. But I recommend 12 days becouse you won't speed in upperhead where places are beautifuller and fishing is better. There are following sightseeing on this routes: rock outcroppings in upperheads of all rivers, especially on Grube-U river, habitations of reindeer's herders, ascent one of the highest top of Polar Ural, visiting komi village Yepa - example of cultural-economy activity of European North of Russia.

3. Well, if you are very hurry but have much money, you can book helicopter furnishing to upperheads of Kosyu, Vangur, Sunya (our european side) river. It is not cheap, but you won't regret. This river are not resembling. They have differ mountain valley, flora, rocks, kind of stream. But they can be unifyed - they are the beautifullest rivers and little visiting places of SubpolarUral. The most interesting places of Kosyu river valley - Nepristupnuy (Inaccessible) rigde, the top Manaraga, massif of Kolokolnya tops, plateau Parnuk with quarts veins, the upperhead of Unko-vozh creek with crystal gallery, Mezhgornuye (Between-mountains) lakes. Tourists shelters Indysey and Zibkalanyel' are situated on the river, where you can take steam bath (sayna), there are some logdes on the upperhead for hiding during incleament weather. Vangur river is famous by fishing and flood-land lakes, in the upper part of Synya river Sablyu rigde situated and there are an excellent series of rock outcroppings, the most interesting is Bogatur'-shelye.

This are all variants of rafting routes. As for me, there is no sense to spend time only in rafting, but allot attention for knowlegdable and nature elements.
